5 ways to make your Content Writing more Inclusive

By Sunaina Agarwal / 12 Feb, 2021

With the current upsurge of digital transformation, content writing is one of the most popular and in-demand professions.

In the present scenario, content writing offers greater opportunities. Businesses whether small or large, need an online presence and digital marketing is the way ahead. Companies are currently willing to even offer a full-fledged job for content writers.

Every organization is struggling to create and maintain its position in the search engine. Millions of blogs are written daily globally. Website, SEO, and Social Media are the top line requirement of any Marketing plan.

If you have been a writer by passion and are looking forward to making content writing a full-time profession, this is the best time for you. Writers need to gear up and go all out in the market.

Wait! Before that, the key question if you have a portfolio ready?

It is important to understand that a bigger market also means a bigger competition. You must have a strong portfolio. As every client is unique, you must be prepared for them in advance.

Though you may find clients in the same industry, you should always research and offer your services relevant as per your customer needs. Your content writing should be inclusive. You should have a general portfolio and a customer-centric profile. The goal is to persuade your clients to say a “YES” with your best writing gigs.

Let's determine a few simple ways on how you can build a strong portfolio with inclusive content writing:

1. Domain-Specific: Content Marketing is more than just creating a content piece today. You need to understand the online space, the industries, and the competition. It is crucial that when you reach out your writing should include a sample-specific to the domain as of the client. General articles are workable but providing domain related content information can mark your profile higher.

2. Language:It should be simple, yet effective. Even when you are writing on the most advanced topics or technical you must ensure that your content language is efficient for your readers. While grammar is an important aspect, good writing should take care of all minimalistic requirements.

While writing for the web or your client’s online presence, do not assume your audience. Slight details like when you are writing a parental blog, do not write it from a mother's or a single parent point of view. Instead, while writing the best option is that you mention ‘parents’ or ‘parent’ instead of ‘mother’ or father’. That would help your audience to even generally relate to your content.

3. Easy to Read Articles:When you are writing think of a student who will be first time reading your content. That is the standard you should follow. Even though when you write for exclusive topics make it simple and accessible for all readers. The key is to help your readers read easily, understand the message. Make it short and engaging.

4. Visual Appeal:While content is certainly about words, let’s be realistic to realize that the reading span of an individual is a bare minimum. Thus, to keep it going, add images that are relevant and applicable to your content piece. An infographic or a visually enhanced image with the information is likely to attract more audience.

5. A good critic:Writing inclusive content with all technicities is not an easy job. Therefore, including critics who can share their valuable and honest reviews will only make your writing better. The critic can suggest any offensive phrase, cliches, or distracting elements that make your writing stand out. In the case of industry or domain-specific writing, looking for experts in relevant industries might be more beneficial.

As a content writer aligning yourself with the market demands is imperative now than ever. The clock is ticking fast, and you should pace up to create and build your niche in a more feasible manner.
